Teach, Learn, Care ("TLC") started with a seemingly simple act by one child’s generosity. Jared celebrated his 10^th birthday over the summer and in lieu of gifts, he accepted school supplies. All school supplies were donated to families in need through the Duxbury Interfaith Council’s Outreach services. Amazingly from nine families he received enough donations to help four Duxbury families.

The success of this simple act encouraged a group of children (Jared, Sarah, Luke, Tess and Isabel) to take it a step further. They said, "Let’s help more kids!" That’s when they came up with TLC:

Through various fundraisers and events, our goal is to provide Duxbury students in need with school supplies for the 2009/2010 school year. With your help, we know we can do this.

Ways you can help:

Donate new school supplies.
Make a monetary donation.
Purchase Duxbury "DUX" key chains at our events with 100% of the proceeds going to TLC.
Have your child host a similar birthday party. We can pick up the school supplies at your convenience.
Volunteer your time now or over the summer to help pack backpacks. Children are welcome to help pack. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
